Students came in Monday Ready to Learn and as if they never left! One of the first activities we did to get to know each other was have a snowball fight with our THREE FACTS ABOUT ME sheets they did at home and brought in either at School Supply Drop Off Dates or on the first day. Students that forgot to bring in theirs made them with me as students unpacked supplies. We charted our night before 2nd grade feelings, read the story JITTER JUICE and then enjoyed a glass of it as we talked about other things that give us the jitters about 2nd grade. We got to write our own post-its about what makes a GOOD STUDENT and what makes a GOOD TEACHER. Then we read everyone's answers and had a lot of discussions based off their ideas. They made many connections to the IB Attributes and our Essential Agreements throughout our discussions. With just a couple minutes left till lunch students enjoyed playing Jenga with their new table friends. Students enjoyed making their hand puzzles for you that hopefully they shared with you this past weekend and told you about all the activities, books, lessons, and specials they had this week. Hopefully this blog will spark conversations about what we are doing in school to help you understand and connect with them at home. One thing is for sure we are always going to be learning but they may not feel like sharing it with you if they've had a long day so please use this site as a way to communicate with them about what we are learning.
